Join us for a Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon at Arte Público Press on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, from 3 to 7 p.m. Space is limited, but you are welcome to participate online if you can’t join us in person!
Wikipedia is a well-known and widely used global resource, yet content is skewed by the lack of diversity in race, ethnicity, and gender of average Wikipedia contributors. This event is being organized by: Black Lunch Table, which seeks to fill holes in the documentation of contemporary art history; Arte Público Press, the oldest and most accomplished publisher of contemporary and recovered literature by U.S. Hispanic authors; and The Recovery Program at APP, an international program to locate, preserve and disseminate Hispanic culture of the US.
On Tuesday, April 30 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Arte Público Press at 4902 Gulf Freeway get free training on becoming a Wikipedia editor. Bring your laptop, power cord, and enthusiasm! We’ll have snacks while editing articles on Houston and whatever else you’re interested in! Taking 42 seconds to create a Wikipedia accountbefore Tuesday is recommended.
No prior experience is necessary and don’t worry if you can’t attend for the entire time. RSVP at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/blt-wikipedia-edit-a-thon-at-arte-publico-press-registration-59415067065
